Why code 65 and not code 60?  Even the deep flange MT's just barely touch on code 55.  With code 60 they would clear. ???

I think this all has to do with strength and durability moreso than appearance or compatibility.

I just pulled a flatcar out of a train to put some weather on it, and when I turned it over, lo and behold, Pizza Cutters!  I never switched out the wheelsets.  Yet that car ran under operating session conditions on my c55 a couple weeks ago without causing any problems.

I doubt that a whole trainload of them would have worked very well, but apparently a car here and a car there don't seem to mind.

Sure, I bet if only one car in a train and you won't even hear the flanges hitting the spike heads.

The problem is with locos and the momentarily loss of electrical contact.

Ed, didn't I show you my grind-o-matic that I use for my Lifelike diesels?  (Two flat files with alligator clips that lead to the track power)

It just takes a couple minutes to run them down.

Can you post photos of this beast?  Are you worried about metal dust getting into the gearing/motor when you do so?

I have a boatload of lifelikes that I bought over the years - at least 6 SW switchers.

Just clean them out if they do .. these are not reduction gears on an aircraft carrier ...

Well, I would post a photo, but last night I was trying to get one of the files out from under the staple holding it in place,... and I broke it... :P

And my wife used up all the glue, ON PURPOSE!!
